meetingsOur meetings are held at The South Church, 501 S. Emerson Street, Mount Prospect , Illinois, on the third Wednesday of every month from 7:15 pm to 9:30 pm. These sessions include current news in the model ship building community, kit reviews, technical and historical presentations, and a “Ships on Deck” period where members discuss their current projects, and any difficulties they may be encountering.

Guests are always welcome at our meetings. So, if you are interested in model ship building, and want to learn more about the hobby, or just want to be around other individuals who appreciate the beauty of ships, please join us at our next get-together.

Making Barrels

One of the most common shipping containers used throughout the age of sail was the barrel. All manner of cargo was transported in these unassuming vessels. If added to a model, they can add a measure of interest to the display. Bob Filipowski will demonstrate an easy way to make these pieces while still maintaining a level of authenticity.
